Responding to Vietnam Sea and Island Week and World Environment Day (June 5), on May 31, nearly 200 students, Youth Union members and residents in Nha Trang City planted about 22,400 "Duoc" trees (Rhizophora apiculata Blume) and 200 "Mam" trees (Avicennia marina) on 1.5 ha of mangrove forest in Dam Bay of Hon Tre Island (Vinh Nguyen Ward, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province). This is the only place to have mangrove forest in Nha Trang be restored. The program was held by the Management Board of Nha Trang Bay Marine Protected Area.

Reportedly, last year this unit planted Duoc (Rhizophora apiculata Blume), Mam (Avicennia marina), Ban (Sonneretia caseolaris) trees, etc. on 1.5ha of forest land here. Until now, the survival rate is 80%, and trees are about 1.2 m high. This is an annual activity of the marine protected area to protect habitat for aquatic species, to keep soil and to prevent erosion.
