The recognition of 46 ancient trees from 18 species as Vietnam Heritage Trees not only highlights the value of the greenery that has been part of the history and development of the Botanical Garden, but also helps raise community awareness about conserving old trees, preserving biodiversity, and protecting urban landscapes and the environment.
Previously, in 2024, Saigon Zoo had 8 trees, including 1 agallocha, 1 pine, and 6 acacias, which were recognised as Vietnam Heritage Trees.
So, along with the 46 trees recognised this time, Saigon Zoo now has 54 trees of 19 species, making it one of the places with the most ancient tree species in the country listed as Vietnam Heritage Trees, helping preserve the “green witnesses” of Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City's urban history.
