According to the agency, from the evening of June 8 to June 9, the northwest, along with the northern parts of Phu Tho and Tuyen Quang provinces, will see heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 60-120mm and isolated areas receiving more than 250mm. Other parts of the north are forecast to have moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 20-50mm and some places seeing more than 100mm.

Thanh Hoa and Nghe An are expected to record moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 40-80mm and isolated areas receiving more than 150mm.

The agency said that on the night of June 9, the northwest and the north-central region will continue to experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 15-40mm and isolated areas receiving more than 80mm. Heavy rain in the northwest and north-central region is expected to ease from June 10.

The weather agency warned of a high risk of thunderstorms, whirlwinds, hail and strong gusts across the north, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, while mountainous areas in the north face the threat of flash floods and landslides.

The lowest temperatures during this cold spell are forecast at 22-25 degrees Celsius, with some mountainous areas in the north dropping below 21 degrees Celsius.

In Hanoi, from the evening of June 8 to the early morning of June 9, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast, with isolated very heavy downpours, bringing cooler conditions.

The agency said the northern delta and southern Phu Tho will continue to endure hot weather on June 8, with highs of around 37 degrees Celsius. From Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, as well as Hue, Danang and the eastern parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, hot to severe heat is forecast, with some places facing exceptionally severe heat. Maximum temperatures will generally range from 36-38 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 39 degrees Celsius.
