More than 100 people join hands to clean Ninh Thuan's polluted beach

21 February 2020 | 10:55:00 AM

More than 100 people have helped collect rubbish on a beach in the southern central province of Ninh Thuan.

They are staff from Nui Chua National Park and those from Vinh Hai Commune in Ninh Hai District.

Bai Chuoi is a pristine beach surrounded by mountains.

Over the past two years, the stronger tourism development has caused more rubbish for beaches along Vinh Hy-Binh Tien route, including Bai Chuoi Beach.

Most of the rubbish is plastic waste

Many tourists voluntarily gathered rubbish on the beach, but their efforts were in vain due to the huge amount of waste.

The management board of Nui Chua National Park launched a campaign for the beach cleanup on 14-17. During the time, up to over 30 tonnes of rubbish were collected.

Nguyen Thi Nhu, an environmental worker from Nui Chua National Park, said that the majority of the rubbish comes from restaurants at Binh Ba and Binh Tien tourist sites.

The litter was then taken to a local waste treatment plant.

Nguyen Trung Tin, a local resident, said that he called on his friends to collect litter at Bai Chuoi Beach. He hoped that restaurants and people will pay more attention to environmental protection.
