The management board of Nha Trang Bay has proposed setting up an area for turtles to use to lay eggs in the bay.
The recommendation sent to Nha Trang City’s authorities is aimed to protect turtles listed as an endangered species. This is in line with the country’s programme on preserving endangered turtle species by 2020 approved by the prime minister in 2019.

The egg-laying site has been earmarked for the Bai Bang Lon-Dam Tre area.
Huynh Binh Thai, head of Nha Trang Bay’s management board, said that over recent years, the bay has seen the appearance of turtles. However, their reproduction has been affected by human activity. So, it was necessary to allocate an area for the species to lay their eggs.
Nha Trang Bay is among 16 marine reserves in Vietnam. It is also among the nicest bays in the world.
Con Dao National Park in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has also carried out artificial turtle hatching, releasing 122,867 baby turtles into the sea so far this year.
