“Da Trang” mango recognized as Vietnam-Heritage Tree

According to Vietnam Association for Natural and Environmental Conservation, among the 13 kinds of trees and bosket just reviewed and recognized by Vietnam Heritage-Tree Council at this time is “Da Trang” mango in Phu Yen.

“Da Trang” mango is a tree cluster of over 20 mango trees with 220 years grown on the National Historic site of Tu Quang pagoda (known as Da Trang pagoda) in Can Luong village (An Dan commune, Tuy An district). This is a well-known delicious kind of mango, of which ripe-fruits were previously picked for the King. As the folktale has it, the quote "Da Trang mango, Phuong Lua cassava" is still spread when it comes to this kind of mango.
Also recognized as Vietnam Heritage-Tree this time is White apricot (also called "God apricot", "Ancient apricot") with over 300 years residing in Phu Tu temple (Phu Hung commune, Ben Tre city, Ben Tre province) and “Trom Mo” tree (locally known as “Uop” tree) with nearly 1,000 years in An De village (Hiep Hoa commune, Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province).
