Six electric bus routes to open on Con Dao

24 October 2025 | 07:22:00 AM

The HCM City Department of Construction has planned to open six electric bus routes serving residents and tourists on Con Dao Island by late this year, as part of its fourth-quarter 2025 targets.

According to the city’s Public Transport Management Centre, these routes will be operated by Con Dao Group JSC, using 28-to-60-seat electric buses with no fare subsidies.

More than 100 services will run daily across six lines. The B-01 route, stretching 17.1 kilometres, will provide a direct connection from Con Dao Airport to the island’s central area.

Meanwhile, the remaining five routes include B-02, which links central roads; B-03, connecting the town centre with Ben Dam Port; B-04, running from the north-west to the centre; B-05, from the south-east to the centre; and TB-01, which serves major scenic and tourist attractions across the island.

The department is working with relevant agencies to expand charging stations and finalise technical standards for their design, construction and operation.

Con Dao currently has no public bus network, with travel reliant on private vehicles and taxis. The new routes form part of HCM City’s draft plan to create low-emission zones in Con Dao and Can Gio through green-transport measures.

During a visit to Con Dao on July 25, HCM City Chairman Nguyen Van Duc instructed the Departments of Finance and Construction to draft a comprehensive 2030-2050 development plan grounded in green principles.
