President of the Korea Human & Environment Forum

Current developmental status of Vietnam is similar to when Korea was a developing country. Now, Vietnam has entered group of emerging and developing countries in Asia through promoting national developmental strategy with Reform & Opening Up Policy and assistance, and is making second leap forward to be a modernized industrial country.

In this process, if Vietnam benchmarks the Korean successful case by carefully reviewing developmental experience of Korea that has successfully emerged from being of one the Least Developed Countries to one of Donor countries and Korea provides assistance to Vietnam in order to avoid trial and error, synergistic effects will be created through optimum combination of Vietnamese passion based on Korean economic developmental experience.

A driving force of development of environmental industry in Korea is a well-timed environmental regulatory. The some examples are as follows. Firstly, Fuel Use Regulations that enforce the use of Unlead and Low Sulfur Oil Fuel and Vehicle Emission Regulations have provided opportunity to jump into one of the world's three major automobile manufacturers.

Secondly, in all industries, applying stricter standards to regulate waste water and waste has led to developing environmental technologies which clean all the mountains, rivers, and seas and causing the technologies to reach the best level in all the world.

Thirdly, we would like to ensure that implementing the world's first Volume-Based Waste Fee system caused fostering recycling industry. That’s began to form national lifestyles for conserving resources and then making polluted urban, and farming and fishing village life environments by garbage to grow into ones of the world's cleanest country.

Finally, it can be surely said that so far, Korean great small and medium corporations with environmental source technologies have substantially led to environmental industrial development.

As a part of that, Korea Human & Environment Forum is trying to help Vietnamese environmental industry to grow based on the environmental experience of the small and middle corporations with the source technologies in Korea and our purpose is to encourage mutual growth of both Korea and Vietnam.

Hence, Korea Human & Environment Forum has been made an exchange with VACNE for about four years since signing the MOU on personnel exchange, joint research, and exchange of technology and information on January 10, 2013.

This time, we have been promoting 「Mutual Certification International Program on The Environmental-friendly Product and Technology between VIETNAM VACNE and KOREA HEF」as a specific fruit. It can be a proof that the Vietnamese environmental industrial development and private exchanges between Korea and Vietnam will be more promoted.

Korea Human & Environment Forum aims to enable both Korea and Vietnam to develop the environmental industry, contribute to practice for environmental protection and promote economic growth of Vietnam. Therefore, we will make a lot of effort to contribute to Vietnamese environmental industry such as encouraging Vietnamese enterprises to produce environmental-friendly products/technologies with assistance of Korean great small and middle corporations.

In Korea, most source technologies for the environment are secured by the small and middle corporations and big corporations are using the technologies. If Vietnam can learn the skills of the small and middle corporations with the source technologies, Vietnam will achieve a greater effect at a lower cost.

If a door between Korea and Vietnam is opened through transfer of exchange between two countries from large corporations-focused exchange to small and medium corporations-focused one with the source technologies, as mentioned earlier, we are sure that it will offer great performance at a low cost to Vietnam and a large help for environmental technology development of Vietnam.

If both Korea and Vietnam jointly form an international cooperation model of exemplary and successful private sector for sustainable green economic development, we think rapidly changing Vietnamese development will be progressed more evenly and efficiently.
