Many profound imprints on the way of preserving Vietnam's Heritage Trees

(VACNE, 25/3/2022) - That was the opinion of the delegates attending the Seminar organized by the Office of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the launch of the movement to Preserve Old Trees - Vietnam Heritage Trees.

Attending the Seminar, there were many leaders of VACNE and the Council of Vietnam Heritage Trees; together with the leaders of the Association Office and some members of the Environmental Media Cycling Club Connecting Heritage Trees.


After the sincere opening speech of the President of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment and the Summary Report of the 12 years of Heritage Tree Conservation by the Chairman of the Heritage Tree Council, most of the delegates have spoken. In particular, it is affirmed that, this activity has profound humanistic meanings, brings practical effects to society and becomes a community movement.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, President of VACNE highly appreciated the contributions of scientists, members, collaborators and the community to this event. Thanks to the activities of Conservation of Heritage Trees, the prestige of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment has been enhanced in many ways. Up to now, the Association has not only published 3 photo books of Vietnam Heritage Trees; The Heritage Tree Council was awarded the Vietnam Environment Award 2020. Especially, thanks to this activity, it has contributed significantly to VACNE receiving the Second-class Labor Medal and a Vice President of the Association 
was awarded the title of ASEAN Biodiversity Hero

On this occasion, experts in Photography and Medicinal Plants, and representatives of the Environmental Media Cycling Club Connecting Heritage Trees also have spoken. They believe that, Conservation of Vietnam Heritage Trees over the past 12 years, not only protects the landscape and environment, conserves biodiversity, but also contributes to education on culture, history, and environmental ethics for the community and promote tourism economic development. Some delegates wanted the Association to strengthen coordination with the authorities to do better communication work, to promote Heritage Trees tourism   and to publish one more book highlighting the value of Medicine of Heritage Trees to strengthen the community's protection of rare genetic resources.
