In addition, researchers from FFI and the Greenviet Biodiversity Conservation Center (GreenViet) also found a number of endangered species, including the red-shanked douc langur and the yellow-cheeked gibbon, zebras, horse bears, small cats, otters, wild cats ...
The above results show that Kon Plong forest is one of the most valuable areas for conservation not only in Kon Tum but also in Viet Nam and the region. Mr. Trinh Le Nguyen, Director of PanNature Center said that with important information on biodiversity recently recognized by scientists, Kon Plong forest deserves a valuable nature reserve in Highlands region.
However, FFI stated that, although Kon Plong forest has high biodiversity value, this area is still facing many threats. Currently, FFI and GreenViet are working with local authorities and communities to try to establish a protected area for strict and effective forest management and protection.
