(VACNE) - Hanoi, Vietnam – July 16, 2025 – The Sustainable Community Board of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) concluded a productive meeting today, held both in-person at the Association's office and online with local branches. The overarching conclusion was a strong commitment to innovating and adapting activity formats to better suit current circumstances.

The board members thoroughly discussed suggestions from the recent Standing Committee's 6-month review meeting for the first half of 2025, further developed by co-chairs Professor Tran Hieu Nhue and Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha. Key agreements for future activities include:
Regular Meetings: The board will aim to meet at least once per quarter.
Community-Oriented Activities: Increased organization and/or coordination of community activities will focus on energy saving, waste reduction, promotion of public transportation, and the use of eco-friendly products.
Member and Community Engagement: Creative methods will be explored to motivate and encourage members and the wider community to protect the environment and conserve biodiversity.
Membership Expansion: A strong emphasis will be placed on expanding the Association's reach to all segments of the population, particularly students, young professionals, and businesses.
A significant development welcomed by attendees was the Standing Committee's decision to transfer the Environmental Media Club connecting Heritage Trees to the Sustainable Community Board. This move aims to elevate the club's activities to a higher level, aligning with new operational conditions. The board unanimously proposed that the Association's leadership include the Club President as a member of the board. Some members also suggested exploring the addition of more members and renaming the club to better reflect its new mission.
To summarize the contributions, the two co-chairs highlighted two immediate priorities for the board:
Organizing a Forum/Seminar on "Natural Resources and Green Transition": This event will coincide with the launch of a book with the same title.
Collaborating on a Cycling Event for the Environment: In conjunction with the Environmental Media Cycling Club connecting Heritage Trees and the Association Office, a cycling festival for the environment will be organized in November 2025 to commemorate the National Unity Day.
The meeting was described as vibrant and concluded with positive results.
