Le Van Huan from Nam Dong Ha Ward spotted the endangered animal at about 8.30 pm near the Nguyen Hue-Dang Tat intersection. After recognising it as a protected species, he captured it and alerted local police.
The police later transferred the 3-kilogramme pangolin to the Cam Lo-Dong Ha Forest Protection Unit for proper care.
Pangolins are listed in both the Vietnam Red Data Book and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List as critically endangered. Hunting, trading or transporting them is strictly prohibited.
