This is an activity aimed at promoting the advocacy strengths of VACNE experts in the field of environmental resource protection for the sustainable development of the country.

Almost all expert opinions highly appreciate the meticulousness of the Organizing Committee and the profound content of the documents that have been drafted before being presented at the upcoming Party Congress. With a very frank attitude and a high sense of responsibility, all leaders and VACNE members have expressed their views through their opinions.

Everyone expressed agreement with the viewpoint stated in the document about adding the phrase 'environmental protection' alongside economic and social development as a 'central' task in the coming period. This issue has also been affirmed in practice, through sustainable development models in our country and around the world.

Some opinions emphasize that the task of environmental protection in the sustainable development model needs to be understood and thoroughly implemented in a full and systematic sense. Environmental protection must include biodiversity conservation, nature protection, proactive response to climate change, active prevention, control, and mitigation of natural disaster impacts, and enhanced management and rational exploitation of natural resources. Furthermore, the new economic theory clearly states that environmental protection must be the foundation of sustainable development, as correctly mentioned in the draft document, but it needs to be clarified further: environmental protection is a pillar for establishing a new growth model, which means not sacrificing short-term benefits to ensure long-term benefits for the nation and future generations.

Experts hope that Vietnam's commitments to the international community regarding green economic development, carbon neutrality by 2050, plans to implement environmental cost pricing mechanisms, eco-taxes, carbon credit markets, as well as the improvement of environmental protection laws, will be ensured to be implemented quickly and effectively in practice.

To build an advanced, modern environmental culture based on inheriting the positive cultural elements of national values from the past, serving as an internal force for the cause of building and protecting the country in the future, it is essential to have fundamental and strategic changes from concepts and awareness to behaviors in dealing with nature and the environment, in line with new ethical standards – environmental ethics – in an environmentally friendly society, with green development and sustainable development as the goals to strive for.

In the field of natural resources and the environment, the role of the community must be given special attention and applied much more creatively than it is today, because it is decisive. One concrete example is the “Conserving Vietnam's Heritage Trees” initiative launched by VACNE 15 years ago, which has proven this point.
