Prof. Dr. Dang Huy Huynh stated that from the beginning of the year until mid-November 2025, the Council and the two offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have coordinated with localities to organize 32 recognition ceremonies and install plaques for 210 Vietnam Heritage Trees nationwide; at the same time, they supported the survey and recognition of an additional 180 ancient trees that meet the criteria for Vietnam Heritage Tree designation.
In particular, with the active support of leaders and member units, as well as members, VACNE successfully organized the 15th Anniversary Celebration of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Conservation Event (2010 – 2025) and sent experts to the locality to directly (or advise via email) care for many trees affected by disease or damaged by storms. The 'descendants of Vietnam Heritage Trees' route at Hung Temple (Phu Tho) also saw the community planting several new trees to coincide with the festival.
Through the media, many experts from the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council have directly disseminated knowledge about caring for and protecting ancient trees, as well as conserving Vietnam's Heritage Trees. The presentation by the VACNE representative on 'The Role of the Community in Biodiversity Conservation: Lessons from the Heritage Tree Model' at the seminar organized by VUSTA and PanNature, recently held in Thai Nguyen province, was warmly received and highly appreciated by the public.
According to incomplete statistics on the number of events held to celebrate the recognition of Vietnamese Heritage Trees this year, the cities of Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Ha Tinh province are leading. However, the highest number of ancient trees marked as Vietnamese Heritage Trees is found in mountainous and island provinces such as Quang Tri, Lam Dong, and Son La. Thanks to maintaining the movement well, to date, all 34 provinces and cities in our country have Heritage Trees (over 8,000 trees) belonging to more than 160 species, including some new species. The care for the health and longevity of ancient trees - Vietnamese Heritage Trees - within communities has also received more attention and frequency. Local governments in some areas, such as Ninh Binh and Phu Tho, have allocated considerable resources for this activity.
