A sea turtle has been found laying eggs on Cau Island (Hon Cau) in the southern central province of Binh Thuan.
Some Hon Cau Marine Protected Area staff found the 70-kilo turtle laying 75 eggs on the island this morning, August 26.
The 75 eggs found on Cau Island
This is the third sea turtle nest discovered on the island since early August, according to the Hon Cau Marine Protected Area staff.
The two previous nests were found on August 2 and 12 with 78 and 91 eggs, respectively.
The Hon Cau Marine Protected Area covers 12,500 hectares. In recent years, many sea turtles have come to the island to lay their eggs, which are then released back into the sea.
Sea turtles’ hatching season lasts between April and October, with peak times ranging from July to September.
