Ba Be Lake is also a unique protected area in Vietnam’s special use forest system with divers freshwater habitats and populations of some species greatly important in maintaining biodiversity. Besides, this protected area is also the only place in Vietnam to have Trachypithecus francoisi recognized as a primate species with narrow distribution.
The recognition of Ba Be Lake as a Ramsar site marks Vietnam’s new progress in implementation of the Ramsar Convention as well as the country’s efforts to preserve biodiversity.
Located in Ba Be National Park with 21 beautiful, interesting tourism sites such as Doi Cave, Puong, Na Phoong, Tham Kit caverns, etc., Ba Be Lake is an important ecological and cultural tourism zone in the northeast mountainous tourism area.
