09 August 2012 | 10:13:00 AM

TITC)- On July 25th 2012, under the sponsor of The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) coordinated with the Ha Giang People’s Committee and the Ha Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to launch a campaign on green - clean - beautiful environmental protection in Phuong Do commune, Ha Giang City.

In the recent years, the number of tourists visiting Ha Giang has been increasing with high tourism revenue, contributing to poverty alleviation and daily-living improvement for local community. On the other hand, tourism environment is also facing pollution caused by the limitation in environmental protection awareness of some tourists and local people. Environmental pollution has impacted scenic beauty, reduced quality of local people’s lives and limited their ability to welcome tourists.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Director General of VNAT, Mrs. Hoang Thi Diep said the project “improving capacity for Viet Nam tourism sector to 2020, vision 2030, focusing on social responsible policies” will contribute to raise environmental protection awareness of local people.
At the ceremony, Mrs. Diep has awarded Ha Giang a number of rubbish bins to the Ha Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasizing that putting rubbish bins in place at tourist attractions will also help create a green - clean – beautiful environment.
Vice Chairman of the Ha Giang People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Son Hai said after the launching ceremony, the city also held a training course aiming to raise local people’s capacity as well as to promote community responsibility to develop sustainable tourism.
