The project, implemented in Tan My Ward, is part of a broader initiative on waste sorting at source and community-based plastic recycling, developed through collaboration between local authorities and businesses.
The model integrates technology with community participation, enabling real-time tracking and management of recyclable materials.
The Tan My facility is the first of its kind in Vietnam to operate on a digital platform, linking local collection infrastructure with technology to monitor recycling flows. The entire process, from household waste sorting to collection and transfer to recycling units, is recorded and managed via the Grac application.
Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan, chairwoman of the Tan My ward People’s Committee, said the project represents a concrete step towards sustainable development and reflects coordinated efforts between authorities, businesses and residents.
A business representative added that sorting waste at source is fundamental to building a circular economy. The project is designed as a closed-loop recovery and recycling chain, with training programmes scheduled from April to June.
The facility is expected to become fully operational by the end of the year, receiving and transferring recyclable materials to processing plants, and improving the efficiency of the local recycling system.
