Nha Trang reclaims over 6,200 square metres of beachfront property

04 August 2025 | 07:57:00 AM

Authorities of the southern central province of Khanh Hoa have reclaimed around 6,200 square metres of land from a controversial beachfront project in Nha Trang City to return the space to the public.

According to Nguyen Minh Tuan, Acting Director of the Khanh Hoa Land Fund Development Centre, the agency had officially taken over the management of more than 6,200 square metres of the beachfront land from Sovico Khanh Hoa Co., Ltd.

Over two decades ago, Sovico Khanh Hoa Co., Ltd. was licensed to lease over 28,000 square metres of beachfront land in Nha Trang to develop the Ana Mandara Resort.

The project, located east of Tran Phu Street, obstructed the beach view.

In early 2024, Khanh Hoa Province revoked 20,000 square metres of beachfront land previously leased to Sovico Khanh Hoa Co., Ltd.

In May, the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee reclaimed an additional 6,200 square metres of land from the company. As a result, Sovico Khanh Hoa Co., Ltd. now retains just over 1,800 square metres for continued business operations along Nha Trang Beach.

The provincial people’s committee reported that the reclaimed land will be developed into a public tourism space.
